Saturday, March 12th, at approximately 3:30 PM, Officer Michael Haddad, 49, was on his way to begin his shift when he collided with a pickup truck on State Route 177 near mile post 158 just outside Superior, Arizona. Haddad was wearing a helmet but died from his injuries at the scene. The occupants of the truck were not injured. DPS investigated the crash but do not anticipate any charges against the truck’s driver.
Haddad was a twenty-two year law enforcement veteran who retired from the Buckeye Police Department as a sergeant. He worked for the Hayden Police Department for the past two years.
On Saturday, March 19th, at 1:30 PM, we met with Whitney Haddad, Michael Haddad’s wife, at their home in Goodyear to make our donation. Whitney’s father and friends were also present. Whitney and her family were very appreciative.
I want to thank Scott “Phat Bastard” Bagwell for contacting the Hayden Police and Officer Haddad’s family to arrange this donation. I also want to thank Darrell “Big D” Stubbs, Kevin “Rainman” Nolan, Scott “Phat Bastard” Bagwell, Amy “Sponge” Bagwell, Ray “Ol Skool” and Bev Snyder, Craig “Buckaroo” Jones, John “Heavy Metal” and Jessica Shepherd, Randy “Gunner” Newman, Pete “Adam Henry” Wittenberg, Mary Waller, and several Region Two supporters, who I had the honor of attending the presentation with.
