As part of our ongoing mission to support the families of those Officers that have made the ultimate sacrifice - Thursday, 11/17, several Choir Boys rode to Show Low to donate $3,000 to Darin Reeds’ family including Darrell “Big D” Stubbs, Kevin “Rainman” Nolan, Craig Jones, Randy “Gunner” Newman, Jim “Rotorwash” Gravatt, Scott “Phat Bastard” Bagwell, Amy “Sponge” Bagwell, and myself.
As we rode into Show Low, we noticed many business signs honoring Officer Darin Reed. We met Show Low police officer Allan Reed at their police station. The outside station wall was covered with memorials and flowers from the community. Allan told us Darin went to a local hotel on a drug investigation. They confronted Erickson, a drug dealer. Darin and other officers left and returned to the hotel a second time. Erickson shot and killed Darin on the second visit. Allan told us the 15 year-old hostage was not a hostage but a girlfriend of a buyer.
Allan escorted us from the Show Low Police Station to the Reed home outside of Show Low. We met Kathy Reed, Darin Reed’s wife, and their 20 year-old son, outside of their home. Darrell “Big D” Stubbs, Arizona Region Two President, gave Mrs. Reed our donation. Kathy was very appreciative of our donation. We did not shoot any photographs at the request of Darin’s family. Rotorwash shot a photograph of the memorials on the police station wall and yard (attached).
I want to thank Kevin “Rainman” Nolan, for contacting the Show Low Police and working with them to schedule our donation. I also want thank my brothers and sisters for taking the day to ride to Show Low.
