Glendale Sgt Livingston shot twice in the chest - AZ Choir Boys LEMC Donation

March 25, 2018

On Saturday, March 24th, at 10 AM, several Arizona Region 1 Choir Boys LEMC attended a fund raiser for Glendale Police Sergeant Robert “Kent” Livingston at Cabela’s in Glendale, AZ. There were several hundred supporters including many Glendale police officers and firefighters. We met with Glendale Police Sergeant Tiffany Smith at Glendale PD’s mobile command center. Sergeant Livingston was unable to attend today as he had been readmitted to the hospital with complications due to his gunshot wounds. Sergeant Smith planned to go to the hospital to see Sergeant Livingston and give him our donation after we left.

As you recall, on Friday, March 2, at approximately 10:30 AM, the United States Marshall Service Fugitive Task Force which includes the Glendale and Phoenix Police, conducted a joint operation searching for 44-year-old Stephan Hudak wanted on several felony warrants. The Marshals Service reported that Hudak had a history of assaulting police officers. The officers located Hudak in a parking lot near 43rd Avenue and Olive Street. Hudak positioned himself to open fire on the approaching officers. Sergeant Livingston drove his patrol car between Hudak and the approaching officers and received two gunshot wounds to the chest from Hudak. Hudak ran into an adjoining residential neighborhood.

Two Glendale police detectives rendered first aid to Sergeant Livingston until EMS arrived. EMS transported Livingston to Banner Thunderbird Medical Center where he underwent emergency surgery.

Officers from several police agencies began a ground search for Hudak. The Phoenix Police swat team found Hudak hiding in a yard in this neighborhood. Hudak opened fire on the officers. Swat team officers returned gunfire and killed Hudak.

Sergeant Smith and other Glendale police officers thanked us for our donation and Smith told us she was heading to see Sergeant Livingston at the hospital shortly. I thank Arizona Choir Boys Law Enforcement Motorcycle Club Region One members including Bill Fisher, Jay Jacobs, Bill Hoffman, Bryan Hoyt, Wayne Martin, Bill Anderson, Jim Jones, and Rich Levy (photo below) for attending today’s check presentation with me.

Arizona Region Three attended a Brush Dawg LEMC fund raiser in El Centro, CA and Arizona Region Seven attended the Chandler Fallen Police Officer ride in the east valley today as well. I thank them for attending those important events!

Please keep Sergeant Livingston and his family in your thoughts and prayers!
